Fun Christmas party food to impress your family and guests! Healthy hacks!

It is December and everyone is looking forward for the greatest party of the year, Christmas, the seasons of giving!

We all get carried away by the good cheer and are not aware of what and how much holiday food they are eating. When we consume a large amount of food, we inevitably end up with unnecessary weight gain over a period of time. If you are the host, make things easier on your guests by offering healthier dishes. Festive eating is about celebrating life, and nothing celebrates life more than delicious food that promotes health.

Typically, seafood and meat make up the main course at dinner parties. Where possible, serve more fish, especially oily fish such as salmon and mackerel that are high in omega 3-fatty acids and are good for the heart.

When you serve meat, offer lean meats rather than fatty cuts. Remove the skin from poultry before cooking, for example. Avoid deep-frying and instead stir-fry, steam, grill, and boil your food. Also, provide green options in the season of Christmas to provide the necessary nutrition intake for the day!

You are what you eat. Relieve Stress By Eating The Right Food. Choose what you feed your body.

Here are some easy festive snacks for your parties and feasts. Try out some of these options that fit your party theme!

1. Strawberry Santa

These super cute Santa’s are made from strawberries and whip cream. Another option for the strawberry filling is greek yogurt for a healthier twist on this Christmas themed snack. Sugar or cake icing is optional. Use dark chocolate sprinklers to décor the Santa's features.

2. Watermelon Christmas Tree

Christmas party doesn’t add to the pile of unhealthy options. Simply cutting a watermelon into the shape of a Christmas tree is not only a really wonderful way to theme a fruit, but it also provides a handy little stump for everyone to hold onto while they eat. Creative and functional!

3. Pretzel Reindeer Bread

These little bite-sized treats are so simple and are made out of easily accessible store-bought ingredients. You will need pretzels, Rolo’s, candy eyes and round red candies.

Turn a boring sandwich into a cute reindeer with the use of miniature pretzels. Use condiments, raisins, or chocolate to make the eyes. The red nose can be made from dried cranberries, or a red chocolate.

4. Chocolate Dipped Mandarin Oranges

There is bound to be loads of sugary cookies and treats at their school parties! Lighten up the spread and send your child to school with a healthier option that is still delicious!

These chocolate dipped mandarin oranges are so easy to make. To create these, combine coconut oil with dark chocolate and melt together. Dip the oranges halfway in the chocolate. Keep in mind you may need to do two coats of chocolate. On your last coat sprinkle shredded coconut on the chocolate and cool in the fridge.

5. Christmas Green Tree Platter

The vegetable platter can be boring to take to a party, so add some imagination with this great Christmas tree shape. Use broccoli as the leaves and cauliflower as the snow. Trick the kids into eating their greens with this cute party snack.

Stay healthy and stay fit by eating wisely and finding the time to stay physically active during the holidays! Counting down to 17 days to Christmas!
